Centre for Disease Modelling (CDM)

We are very lucky to have access to a state-of-the-art barrier animal facility which allows us to study the role of IL-7 in a variety of immune conditions ranging. Working with dedicated animal technicians to maximize animal welfare, we are investigating how IL-7 may improve or worsen Influenza challenges and its effects on immune cell development.

Infection, Inflammation, and Immunity (i3)

The Abraham Lab is apart of the I3 community at the LSI, which has a research focus on infectious, inflammatory, and autoimmune diseases, and immune cell and metastatic cancers. Primary members include Ninan Abraham, Mike Gold, Kenneth Harder, Marc Horwitz, Fracois Jean, Pauline Johnson, and Lisa Osborne. The I3 community holds weekly seminars featuring work by graduate students of all levels.

Mucosal Immunology Workshop (MIW)

The MIW meetings are held quarterly and features research groups from the UBC Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Department of Medicine, UBC Michael Smith Laboratory, BC Cancer, and BC Children's Hospital with a shared research interest in mucosal immunology. Together, we present and discuss our current research and network with others. This allows for collaborations among labs and for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to receive constructive feedback on their work. Topics covered at MIW have included the role of ILCs in disease pathogenesis, effects of dietary supplements on the maintenance of the microbiome, and maladaptive immune responses to tumours.
